YAPHANK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Authorities in Suffolk County are looking to reunite a possibly stolen antique chalice with its rightful owner.
Police said the chalice was recently pawned by a 24-year-old whose family had no connection to the antique.
The engraving on the chalice indicates it was a gift in 1922 to a couple to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary.
Sterling silver flatware that may have been stolen along with the chalice has also recently been pawned, police said.
The Suffolk County Police Department is offering a reward up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest of the suspect. Additionally, anyone with information regarding the chalice’s owner is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
